We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce to you an integral part of the Sanderling Culinary Team. He’s an exceptional chef, an amazing leader, and most of all, one of the most genuinely caring people you could meet. Tom Stagikas has been a part of Sanderling since August of 2011, and continually strives for excellence in our culinary ventures.
His dedication to pleasing Sanderling guests is one of the many reasons Tom was named Manager of the 2nd Quarter for 2014. After receiving his culinary degree from Johnson and Wales in Providence, Rhode Island, Tom spent 9 years at a private golf club in Gainesville, Virginia before joining our team. He’s a southern chef through and through- indicated by his favorite dish at The Lifesaving Station, and his recommendation to you, the Chick’n & Waffles. Since he couldn’t pick just one of the many amazing dishes our kitchen creates, he also recommends you come right back for the Scallops, a local and staff favorite.
Not only are Chef Stagikas’s culinary abilities impeccable, his leadership abilities and dedication to guest satisfaction are inspiring to our Sanderling Staff, and always pleases our guests. As the head of our Banquets kitchen, Tom has a huge part in the execution of these events. One of his favorite parts of his job is meeting our Sanderling brides and grooms during a private tasting for their wedding, and assuring them of his investment in the quality of food they will have on one of the biggest days of their lives.
“Cooking is only half of it” says Chef Stagikas when reflecting on his favorite parts of his job, speaking of bridging the gap between the back of the house and front of the house. Tom takes pride in the quality of food he delivers our guests, and as such makes a memorable impact on the important events he helps execute. He’s a pleasure to work with, a creative mind, and most importantly; Chef Stagikas is going to be an integral part of the team who makes your vacation at Sanderling amazing!
