Hop in an open air shuttle for a tour of Corolla and Carova in search of the real locals here, the wild horses. Corolla Outback Adventures offers a special rate to Sanderling guests for this one-of-a-kind Wild Horse Tour. Nothing beats this experience, and it’s the perfect pre-lunch activity.
Speaking of lunch, stop by Agave Roja for a little fiesta to keep the ball rolling. With fresh, house-made ingredients and some of our favorite fish tacos in the area, this is a stop you can’t miss.
Back at Sanderling, toss on your swimsuits and get ready for some fun. Head to the Kitty Hawk Kites Activity Hut to rent paddle boards on property for a sound-side adventure and a good workout. Need lessons? KHK instructors will show you just how to maneuver these water-gliding crafts in one of the scheduled classes you can find in the weekly activities on our website. Explore to your fill and finish up at the resort pool for some easy swimming and sunbathing.
Shower up and head over to the Lifesaving Station for a meal rooted in locally-sourced cuisine. Sanderling favorites? Crab and jalapeno dip followed by our creamy Shrimp & Grits.
Enjoy a post-dinner treat around our resort firepit with Sanderling s’mores- all the fixings can be found in your room! Wind down your day with quality time together listening to the embers crackle.
If you have any energy left, head out to the beach for a fun hunt. Catching ghost crabs is always a fun adventure for the whole family- make sure to bring a flashlight and a bucket for your finds! Make sure to release the little guys after so you can find them again later.
Enjoy a real breakfast at the Lifesaving Station before heading to town. The Eggs Sanderling is a coastal spin on the traditional Eggs Benedict that you don’t want to miss.
Gear up for another day by renting bikes to ride into the Town of Duck. Explore the Waterfront Shops and Scarborough Faire for the morning to find keepsakes for your trip. Walk the boardwalk and explore the side-streets to see picturesque views of both the Sound and the Ocean.
Stop in Roadside Grill for some OBX history and amazing food. Their outdoor dining is the perfect spot for lunch on a sunny day, in the shadow of the oldest home in Duck!
You’re at the beach, so get out there! Bike back to Sanderling for some quality time on the beach. Suit up and get ready for some more fun in the sun.
Times range for surf lessons, but you want to hop in one when you can. Boards and instruction provided by Kitty Hawk Kites on property. By the end you will be catching waves like a pro! Hang around the beach to soak up the rays after your instruction or catch one of the afternoon activities like surf fishing.
Celebrate with a trip to Kimball’s Kitchen for dinner after your active day. Watch the sunset dip below the water through the wall of floor to ceiling windows while dining from a superb oyster selection, Certified Angus Beef and handmade pasta.
Wind down with live music by the Sandbar. Times available on weekly activity schedule. Select dates have Movies on the Sound in the Town of Duck for some outdoor evening fun.
Start your day with a visit to the Beach House Bar for a grab and go breakfast and coffee, then get ready for some fun. Sign up for Runcations’ Wednesday 5k for the whole family beginning at The Whalehead Club.
Explore Corolla! Be sure to grab a treat from Duck Donuts and visit the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. If you still have energy left, climb all 220 steps for amazing panoramic views of the Currituck Sound and the Atlantic Ocean.
Your last day of the vacation means getting some precious beach time in. Order a picnic lunch from the Sandbar to take on the beach and enjoy the waves.
Rent some boogie boards from Kitty Hawk Kites on property, or wind-permitting you can fly kites on the beach with the whole family.
Cool down after a day at the beach and get ready for some evening fun. Catch a concert on the Town green in Duck on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8.
Head to the Lifesaving Station for one last meal. If you’ve had your fill of seafood, don’t miss our Springer Mountain Farms Buttermilk Fried Chicken!
