Formally the Chef de Cuisine at the Lifesaving Station, Dan Grunbeck moves over to Kimball’s Kitchen for the 2016 season. After growing up near the coast of Long Island, Chef Grunbeck bounced around soaking up all the culinary talent he could through numerous top notch kitchens in the US before he landed on our island. His culinary talents were honed among places like The Little Nell in Aspen, CO, The Penninsula Grille in Charleston, SC and The Ocean Room in Kiawah Island, SC.
His love for the coast began when he was just a kid picking oysters with his grandparents in Long Island, undoubtedly where his respect for coastal dishes developed. His style fits naturally with our philosophy of S.O.A.L cuisine which he says lured him to our kitchens here at Sanderling. Chef Grunbeck keeps the adage that simple foods speak for themselves, allowing the flavors of our region to shine in every dish he creates.
