Happy kids = happy parents. For this vacation, it’s all about keeping the little ones busy as bees- plus a little fun for the parents too, right? Take a look for some ideas to entertain the whole family on the Outer Banks without falling into heavily trafficked stops. Our vacation for the kids will be a blast for all the kiddos, so don’t forget to let your inner kid out to play…
Start your morning off with a bike ride into town for Duck Donuts! Sugary goodness for a day full of fun.
Head to Jeanette’s Pier in Nags Head for fun on the beach. Venture out on the pier and take your picture with the turtle!
Stop for lunch at Tortuga’s Lie for great seafood and burgers. Guy Fieri featured this spot on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives!
Take a step back into life c. 1847 with an afternoon trip to Island Farm in Manteo- chickens roam freely and life mills about in this living historic site.
On your way back to Sanderling, stop in the Brewing Station for a family-friendly meal in Kill Devil Hills. With a shipwrecked playground and plenty of outdoor seating, this is the perfect stop for dinner. Kids have an extensive menu- don’t skip the worms & dirt sundae!
Get an early morning breakfast by stopping at our Beach House Bar for pastries and juices.
This is the perfect place to get into some Fishing Fun! Join our class from 9 to 11 AM on Fridays to enjoy a lesson in surf fishing, maybe even reel in the big one!
Pick up a picnic from the Sandbar and munch on convenient bites. Post up under an umbrella for a little break from the sun.
Our Resort Pool is kid-friendly with its shallow side fitted just for the little ones. Bring your water toys and splash through your morning.
Make your way through showers and naps, then enjoy some amazing food from the Lifesaving Station. Color your creations on the Little Lifesavers menu!
Stop by the fire pits with your s’mores kits for our favorite pastime, s’mores roasting!
Get to the Lifesaving Station for a big breakfast- little ones are bound to love the “Whole Nine Yards”!
Make memories with Brooke Mayo Photographers by scheduling a kid’s portrait session where they can dress up as a magical mermaid or a creature of the deep.
Head to Duck for a walk on the boardwalk and lunch. Coastal Cantina is a great spot on the water for tex-mex with coastal flair.
Bring your Stanley & Sallie for a surprise from the OBX Popcorn Shoppe! Spread out on a blanket on the Town Green and enjoy a Family Magic show or concert.
Stop for dinner at Coastal Cravings for their famous crab cakes or steamer pots. This little spot attached to the BP station was a favorite of Guy Fieri’s too- don’t let the location fool you!
Round out your trip with Saturday night storytelling around our firepit to hear local tales of our region.
