Have you been waiting for that special time to pamper yourself this winter? Now is the perfect time. On the evening of Tuesday, February 19th, the Spa at Sanderling will be transformed into a candlelit oasis honoring the Full Snow Moon. Spa hours will be extended until 9pm for this unique February evening.
February’s full moon was first named the Full Snow Moon by Native American tribes, since the heaviest snow usually falls within this month. Due to this heavy snowfall, hunting and gathering would be at it’s lowest point, creating a strong emphasis on the importance of togetherness. Home, hearth, and family became the main focus throughout this time. Tribes would sit shoulder to shoulder around the fire in quiet reflection and gratitude of the past, present and future.
Sound familiar? Here on the Outer Banks, it is easy for all of us to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the summer months, making it even more important to relax, unwind, and refocus our minds during the off season, reflecting on this past year, and giving thanks for the year to come.
Beginning at 5pm, we will be turning all lights off to enjoy the tranquility of only candlelight and moonlight. Picture the natural light of the full moon pouring through the windows as the candlelight guides you through the spa. We have specially curated spa treatments from our massage and bath soaks menu for this evening.
We also welcome you to join us at the Beach House firepit where Julia Daniels will lead us through 15 minutes of quiet meditation. Whether you start or end your evening with this meditation, you will be sure to unwind under nothing but the glow of the firepit and the full moon as you unwind and regain focus. These complimentary meditation sessions start at 6:30pm, 7:30pm and 8:30pm.
