I think we can all agree… it’s time for a break! Spring Break is the perfect time to have fun with loved ones. What better place for this than the Outer Banks? From the warming weather to the cool ocean breezes, we’re excited for the sunny spring days! If you’re looking for a few activities to enjoy on our barrier island, look no further:
1. Explore the shore:
Let the ocean provide you with cool breezes and warm sunbeams on an uncrowded beach! While the kids build sandcastles and run through the water, recline on the beach as the waves soothe you. Catch some sunbeams, walk along the ocean, and search for cool seashells.
2. Hit the green:
There’s no shortage of golfing opportunities– whether it’s mini-golf with the whole family, or a private session at the club! Check out what golf courses will be nearest you here!
3. Schedule an Adventure:
If you’re craving a little adventure, Kitty Hawk Kites can meet all of your needs! Whether you want to bike, hang-glide, or kayak Kitty Hawk Kites is the place to go. Spend some time in the calming natural beauty of the Outer Banks…
4. Explore Carova Beach:
A popular spot for horses to graze, search the 4×4 for these descendants of wild Spanish mustangs! Book a Wild-Horse Tour and be led through the ins and outs of Carova to spot the horses, or you can opt for a self-guided tour within your own vehicle! Just remember to let the air out of your tires and follow the beach’s guidelines with the proper permit.
5. Rejuvenate the Soul:
Enjoy the spa and let one of our many treatments give you the refreshing break you need. Everyone needs to give their bodies some relaxation! Let the Spa at Sanderling become the oasis you need. Choose anywhere from a sea-stone massage, to a hydrating facial, to an exfoliating pedicure…
6. Celebrate flight:
Tour historic Wright Brothers National Memorial and see firsthand how Orville and Wilbur Wright found flight in Kitty Hawk. Constructed in 1932, this monument is a tribute to the brothers and their iconic pursuit of air-travel. This site is a can’t-miss opportunity to experience the history of where flight was discovered.
7. Find keepsakes:
Shop locally for souvenirs and keepsakes to bring back home from your trip! Unique trinkets crafted by locals will help you remember your OBX Spring Break for years to come. Wander around Duck’s boardwalk to find these quaint, charming spots and take in the gorgeous views while you’re at it…
8. Delve into Outer Banks history…
Nicknamed ‘The Graveyard of the Atlantic’, the Outer Banks is surrounded by its interesting past. Whether you explore a few of the 29 Lifesaving Stations found in the National Historic Registry, or climb one of our five lighthouses- there’s so much to learn and discover!. Our Lifesaving Station restaurant has its very own unique history!
9. Flying kites:
One thing the spring brings a lot of is breezy weather! Choose from a wide array of colorful kites from Kitty Hawk Kites to let sail in the wind. Run along the beach to catch the wind or travel down to Jockey’s Ridge State Park to get up high. If you’re unsure of the process and want to learn more, there are even kite flying lessons! Make sure to take photos and tag us (@sanderlingresort) so we can see all the fun!
10. Explore the Elizabethan Gardens:
